Sushi Bay - Parramatta Westfiled and outdoor movie special recommendation

0
We walk pass by Sushi Bay in Parramatta many time, never has chance to walk in. Today we are going to a special place in Sydney (will reveal at the end of post), due to timing, we rush in here for a quick dinner.

I must say in this restaurant has the most sushi on the train and there are load of them on the kitchen table stand by. Don't quite understand why sushi chef never stop making even though still just starting the shop and not many customers.

Can you see the whole pile of sushi stand by?

Here is the price guide.

Had a lot look around, made our first pick.
Smoked salmon wrap with avocado and crab salad topped with black caviar.

Jellyfish with black mushroom sushi

Salmon sashimi with avocado roll with sesame

Teriyaki chicken roll - meat is very dry, average!

Eel cream cheese roll - I must say this is not a good quality eel. It dish really let me down.

Overall, I was very disappointed with Sushi Bay not only their food but also their services. I must say, I will never go back again. If you are in a rush, food is clean and eatable. (This is the best comment I can give for now.)

Now, time to reveal our special program for the night.
Great union blacktown drive-in outdoor movie. I loved free outdoor and old fashion experience. If you haven't been or haven't been for a long time, it's great for a special date, or a family outing.
Tune in to FM 92.4 on our radio in the car to receive sound signal (ourdoor movie has improved!), but there are still family prefer to camp outside. If you choose to camp, don't forget to bring your own speaker.

Thai on Wok revisit - Glebe Sydney * recommend*

0
So excited to revisit Thai on Wok with our friends, and trying some new dishes. You can find more information of my previous post here: http://aroime.blogspot.com/2011/10/thai-on-wok-glebe-sydney.html.

Entree: deep fried tofu (tofu puff)
This is made of fresh tofu, and surprisingly very lean. Highly recommended. I have not had freshly deep fried tofu puff for a very long time, simple but satisfied.

Satee chicken
Marinated BBQ chicken skewer with satay sauce - superb! My friend wiped the last dip of sauce with rice, not doubt is profound quality.

Eggplant with chicken and Thai basil, seasonal vegetable (snow peas, capsicum, and tofu)
On the menu didn't mention what sauce it was (secret sauce?), I think it's Thai oyster sauce and soy sauce. I think you can rearrange to fully vegetarian dish with this sauce, it's a perfect combination with tofu and eggplant.

Seafood stir fried with Thai herbs
I love this dish! Fresh seafood ingredient and combination Thai herbs with lime leaves, krachai, dry chilli.

If you have mistaken kachai with ginger, from today, I will introduce you my favorite Thai herb Krachai to you. Kachai is the root of plant and part of ginger family. Krachai is always added to seafood, fish curries, and peeled and served as a raw vegetable with the popular summer rice dish, khao chae.

Seafood Pad Thai - I can never pass this dish.

Daiso is in Sydney@Chatswood

2
It was coincident I bumped into Daiso Japan's grand opening in Sydney.
Daiso has 2,500 stores in Japan, and 522 stores overseas, in SingaporeTaiwanHong KongSouth KoreaThailandPhilippinesIndonesiaCanadaU.A.ESaudi ArabiaKuwaitQatarBahrainOmanMacauMalaysiaNew ZealandRussiaRomania, the United States of America and now Australia. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daiso) They offer good quality products mainly produced or designed in Japan for only $2.80 AUD each.

I was amazed with their product range. From everyday common household products to organising baskets to stationary to kitchenware (believe or not stain steel kitchen knife for $2.80 ) to footwear to make up to home decor......this list will never end...... As all products are same price, for store payment policy - to use credit card has to purchase more than 10 items. It was very crowed the day i visit, only can show you what I bought today.

Thai on Wok - Glebe Sydney * recommend*

0
I must say Thai on Wok is THE BEST take away Thai food in Sydney. (the ones I know)
They not only offer authentic Thai food, fresh ingredients and generous portions,  but also provide warm services and great prices. I never disappointed not even a bit after many times of visit. The queue in Thai on Wok never ends, locals comes in order without looking at the menu. I guess they all already found their favorites.
Couple of things I always order when I am there - Gapao (chili basil), Pad SeeEw, Seafood stir fried with Thai chili jam

Pad Thai
First time ordering this, lunch special $8.50 with meat and $11 with seafood.
Let me say, this is a massive pad thai with fresh seafood (squid, salmon, king prawn and fish of the day).

We were so surprised to find seafood with its quality in this small take away store. Their quality is even better than most of dining restaurant. Well, with the price tag, I'd say all restaurants.

My favorite - GaPao

This the Best chili basil beef I have ever had in Sydney. It takes years of skills and practices to serve a dish like this. Thai holy basil, fish sauce, thai green chili, garlic stirred with tender thin sliced marinated beef served with rice for $8.50.
Don't even hesitate, just order it next time.

Pork mince salad with coriander and ginger sprinkled with cashew nuts

This is quite mild salad based with pork mince and herbs. I wouldn't recommend if you are the first time visitors.

Tommy Thai Smile - West Ryde Sydney

0
My colleague to me this small restaurant in West Ryde earlier and we're eagle to pay a visit.
The restaurant seems to be recently redecorated, it's nice and authentic.

Nice wooden handcraft ceiling

It is quite nice size restaurant, and sitting arrangements are quite spacious.

They do lunch and dinner menu in Tommy Thai Smile. You can call them to make take away. Well, if you wan to have a special night out, it's better coming to the restaurant.

Thai food testing top pick - Pad Thai noodle

I give the flavor and texture of the noodle 7 out of 10. They stick to authentic approach rather than too sweet in some other places. Where it fall short for me in here is they poach their meat in their preparing process, that'd include chicken and beef. I personally think 10 out of 10 restaurants does that will surely overcook their meat. So my recommendation here is to ask their waiter, if confirmed to be poached meat, switch to seafood.

Sizzling seafood with chili jam sauce and vegetables. This dish is very delicious thanks to their fresh ingredients and seafood choices.

Special on the day - crying tiger (meaning grilled beef)
Tommy Thai Smile used wagyu beef for the night.
Beef was very nicely done - tender juicy. Only suggestion is to slice their meat instead of making it as a cube. Surely, presentation wise it definitely nice and neat but I love the thin slice of crying tiger. Warning: do not eat the beansprouts with your wagyu beef, it does not go. (I suppose this is another presentation gone wild.)

Overall, it's been a good experience. The service was very nice and all the customers are seems to solely enjoyed their meals. Great atomostpher there that's for sure!

Lebanon and Beyond - Randwick Sydney * recommend*

0
Lebanon and Beyond is a humble restaurant in the heart of Randwick nourish locals for years. There are quite busy during weekends and Friday nights, please don't forget to book a table before your visits.

I love their inside decoration, its transitional and culture vibe just embraced us all as soon as we walked into the door way.

Beautiful lamp

Nice and classic dinning setting

Outside sittings available as well

Complimentary starter - pickle, olives, and pan fried peanuts

As a first timer, we choose the combination starter - hummus, grill eggplant hummus, and yogurt hummus
Grill eggplant hummus is phenomenal! We nearly licked clean the plate.

Fresh Lebanese bread are for you to refill all night, so pace yourself.

Fresh lemonade - this is really freshly squeezed lemon with lemonade. Very citrus indeed! If you have a weak stomach, properly not your choice. I did ordered an orange bloossm team, recommended!

This is the best cauliflower I have every had. Lightly deep-fried golden brown cauliflower with yogurt sauce on the top.

Grilled eggplant - slightly crispy outside and soft inside, yummo!

Lamb kebab with salad - Lamb is very nicely done and juicy, only complain is we need MORE!

Famous chicken kebab - to be honest, I reckon they drizzled too much of lemon juice on my kebab. I love crispy charcoal chicken breast kebab with right amount of seasoning, this one came short slightly for me.
